Veteran Castilian folk group La Musgaña will present its new work ‘Si supiera que cantando (If I knew that singing) at Sala Galileo Galilei in Madrid on Saturday, January 17th, 2015.
The two founding members of the group, Carlos Beceiro and Jaime Muñoz, have been joined by three new musicians: Sebastian Rubio, Antonio Toledo and Marta de la Aldea.
After nearly 30 years performing instrumental dance music throughout Castile, in this new project La Musgaña will present vocal music: romances, jotas, seguidillas, rondas, etc. Some of the songs had been previously recorded by the group but had never been played live.
With the addition of instruments like drums, bass and guitar, and more “pop-style” arrangements, La Musgaña sounds different without forgetting its roots.
The new La Musgaña lineup:
Jaime Muñoz: flutes, kaval and drum
Carlos Beceiro: electric bass, diatonic accordion and bouzouki
Sebastián Rubio: drums and percussion
Antonio Toledo: guitar and laud (lute)
Marta de la Aldea: vocals
