Young sitar master Shakir Khan is set to perform on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Roulette in Downtown Brooklyn, New York.
One of the most thoughtful and energetic young classical sitar players internationally, the talented Shakir Khan follows in the footsteps of his illustrious father and guru Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan.
Shakir represents the 8th generational link in an unbroken chain of musical talent and tradition and is an exponent of the Etawah gharana (school) that was founded by maestro Imdad Khan, grandfather of the late Vilayat Khan. In Shakir Khan’s first New York public appearance, he will be accompanied by the young tabla virtuoso Enayet Hossain.
