Zakir Hussain with Jyanthi Kumaresh & Kumaresh Rajagopalan are set to perform on Wednesday, October 1 at Markham Theatre, 171 Town Centre Boulevard, Markham (Toronto).
The world’s leading tabla virtuoso teams up with violinist Kumaresh Rajagopalan and his wife Jayanthi on veena for an extraordinary evening of Indian classical music. These three artists – each renowned for their own accomplishments – bring a unique contribution and influence to the collaboration.
Hussain is of a master tabla player known the world over for his dazzling and mesmerizing performances and collaborations with artists of all genres. Kumaresh Rajagopalan is known as one of India’s top Carnatic violinists known for his brilliant musical interpretations with numerous artists including the dynamic violin duo with his brother Ganesh. Jayanthi K is recognized as one of the world’s top performers on the veena, a plucked stringed instrument, considered by many a celestial instrument with ties to ancient times.
The musical result of these three brilliant artists joining together on stage will be a virtuosic performance combining northern Indian classical music with flavors of Carnatic music of the south.
