Malagasy Afro-Trance HAJAmadagascar & The Groovy People Announce 2014 UK Tour

In the wake of their much-admired performance at the Africa Oyé festival this summer, Malagasy band HAJAmadagascar & The Groovy People will be touring the UK for the first time. Haja and his band will be traveling throughout England and Wales this November to bring their distinctive Afro-Trance grooves to brand new audiences.

HAJAmadagascar & The Groovy People is led by the charismatic showman HAJAmadagascar on guitars, vocals, marovany, kabosy, ngoma, jejy, faray, valiha and percussion; Liva on bass, guitar and keyboards; Domy on drums and percussion; and Luis Ribeiro on percussion.

The band’s music blends in as colorfully as the population of the exotic island. No rhythm resounds twice. The hot program’s rainbow stretches from Malagasy salegy to bahoejy, and antosy to kilalaky, all beats and hot grooves originating on this great South East African Island.

“Our music reflects our being”, Haja says. “We love our traditions, but we live in big cities at the same time. Tradition and modernity can live well together. Afro-grooves are endless.”\
