Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen Releases Go Back Video

Nigerian musician Tony Allen has a new music video for the single “Go Back” featuring Damon Albarn. The single is a tribute to African refugees and immigrants on Lampedusa Island (Italy). The full album Film of Life is scheduled for release on Jazz Village on October 14.

On Film of Life, the celebrated Afrobeat drummer worked with the trio of producers known as The Jazzbastards , developing a mix of bebop, Afrobeat, jazz and psychedelic music. Tony Allen thinks of his drums “as an orchestra” and likes “to make them sing”.

Tony Allen is one of the greatest drummers from Africa. He was a member of Fela Kuti’s legendary Afrobeat band.
