Diverse Programming at Suma Flamenca 2014

The Suma Flamenca 2014 (Flamenco summit) festival will open on Wednesday, June 4th with world premiere El Jardín del Temblor (The Garden of Tremor), a show created and directed by Mateo Feijoo for the singer Maria Toledo, at Teatro de La Abadía’s Juan de la Cruz hall. In the same space, the Bienal de Flamenco of the Netherlands will present the voices of Rosario ‘La Tremendita ‘ with Iranian Mohammad Motamedi in Qasida, on Tuesday June 10.

The following week, on Tuesday 17th, singer Rocío Márquez will premiere her new show Por qué cantamos (why we sing) highlighting the poetry of Shakespeare, Benedetti and Santa Teresa de Jesus. Meanwhile, dancer Eduardo Guerrero will present Re_torno, awarded the First Dance Prize at Premio de Baile de La Unión on Friday 27, with a repeat performance on Saturday 28 at the Real Coliseo Carlos III in San Lorenzo de El Escorial.

The Teatros del Canal de la Comunidad de Madrid will host established artists presenting important developments such as the concert on Wednesday June 11 titled I’m Flamenco by guitar maestro Tomatito.

The daring singer Carmen Linares will present a new project with the famed flamenco-jazz trio composed of Carlos Benavent on bass, Tino Di Geraldo on percussion and Jorge Pardo on flute and saxophone in the Cu4tro concert, which takes place on Thursday June 12.

La Moneta’s dance show Paso a Paso is sweeping the world stages and will arrive on Saturday 14 to the Sala Roja of the Madrid coliseum. Jose Merce will showcase a classic flamenco recital on Sunday 15 June. And there, too, in a rehearsal room, on June 13, 14 and 15 June , Silvia Marín and Antonio Gades Foundation for the fourth consecutive year, will impart a flamenco class for teachers that has become so successful that it has been extended to various Spanish universities and this summer will be held at Milano Flamenco Festival .

Suma Flamenca will take place from June 4 to July 3, 2014 in 24 venues in the Madrid region.
