The 20th edition of the annual Lotus World Music and Arts Festival will take place September 25 through 29 in downtown Bloomington, Indiana. The programming includes both ticketed showcase evenings and free or low-cost performances.
The lineup this year includes Cuban jazz pianist Roberto Fonseca, Malian star Bassekou Kouyate, Swedish string trio Väsen, Tunisian Maluf singer Sonia M’Barek, Ukrainian band DakhaBrakha, the vibrant Ethio-roots group Debo Band, Corsican a cappella quartet Barbara Furtuna, renowned Polish folk band Janusz Prusinowski Trio, Red Baraat, De Temps Antan from Quebec, harp maestro Edmar Castaneda, Nordic fiddle wizards Frigg, South Indian fusionists Funkadesi, kantele ensemble Kardemimmit, sarod master Amjad Ali Khan, and much more. All festival venues are clustered within easy walking distance of each other in downtown Bloomington. On Saturday afternoon, Lotus in the Park offers five hours of free programming, including live performances, workshops by festival artists, and hands-on art.
