Native American Music Awards Flutist of the Year, Cody Blackbird (Lakota), has released a new CD titled Wicohan (Artisthead and Only The Brave Recordings & Entertainment).
Recorded in Chicago, Illinois, Wicohan was produced, mixed and engineered by multiple Native American Music Award winner, Frank Waln of Nake Nula Waun.
Cody Blackbird is one of Indian Country’s fastest rising stars and the youngest recipient to receive the Native American Music Awards Flutist of the Year Award which he earned for his CD, “The Journey” in 2011.
From the tundras of Alaska to the outbacks of Australia, Cody has spread his beautiful award-winning music and message of unity. He works closely with youth on Drug and Alcohol awareness and Suicide prevention as well as emphasizes the importance of returning to the traditional ways and values of indigenous peoples.
