Amira Kheir Releases View From Somewhere

Sudanese – Italian singer songwriter Amira Kheir’s new album, View from Somewhere, is inspired by traditional Sudanese singing and instrumentation, blended with elements of Jazz and Soul.

View From Somewhere was recorded live in 3 days at Livingston Studios with Amira’s long-­standing sextet of acoustic guitar, oud, double bass, kora, flute and percussion. Throughout the album she effortlessly switches between Arabic and English .

The combination of Amira’s melodic traditional singing styles and instrumentation with improvisation-based performance has garnered the young songstress a fast growing following and seen her perform in some of
London’s most prestigious venues and events including: the African Music Festival 2010 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, the London Jazz Festival 2009 at the Albany and Celebrating Sanctuary Festival 2010 at the Southbank.
