The Cuban band Maraca & his Latin Jazz All Stars will present soon in Cuba the album called En vivo desde el Gran Teatro de La Habana (Life from the Havana Great Theater). It was produced by Egrem and the album will also be published in Canada, the United States and Europe from mid-June.
They performed recently at the Sala Avenida in Havana, where they played themes from the new repertoire, which includes dance music and Afro-Cuban jazz. Maraca is currently organizing different presentations in foreign stages.
After eight years without working in the United States, the musician will return to that country with a tour around eighteen states and thirty cities from mid-June onwards. The tour includes concerts at important clubs and festivals, such as Yoshi’s and Jazz Alley classified as two out of the ten best jazz clubs in the United States. They will also perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington, the Salt Lake City Jazz Festival in Utah, the Jazz Aspen Snowmass from Colorado and the Chicago Folk and Roots Festival.
Recently Maraca & su Latin Jazz All Stars performed at the Kriol Jazz Festival from Cape Verde during the closing ceremony of that festival. For that occasion the band was made up by the outstanding North American jazz player David Sánchez, the Cubans Horacio “El Negro” Hernández, Julito Padrón, Feliciano Arango, Adel Gonzalez, and the jazz stars from Martinique Mario Canonge (piano) and Gregory Privat (keys).
