Curumin has been added to the line-up for Miami’s leading world music festival, the Heineken TransAtlantic Festival. Half Japanese, half Spanish, and 100% Brazilian, Curumin is one of the coolest young musicians in Sao Paulo today. Fronting a band that is as hard to classify as he is, his new music is a brain-melting charm of funk, tropicalia (Brazilian homegrown psychedelia), reggae and electronica. Miami audiences got a taste of the band in 2007, when they formed the backing group for new singing sensation Ceu.

Curumin’s latest recordings available in North America are: Japanpopshow and Achados e Perdidos.

Curumin replaces Moinho, who will not be playing at the Festival on April 17. "We’re also excited to let you know that two hot local Miami bands have just been announced as opening acts: Rachel Goodrich will open for Ximena Sarinana on April 18, and Afrobeta will open for Budos Band on April 24," said publicist Rachael Himsel on behalf of the Heineken TransAtlantic Festival (Rhythm Foundation)

Saturday April 18, opening for Ximena Sariñana:
Rachel Goodrich
The opening set features Rachel Goodrich. Her unique music explores a variety of sounds, as she plays everything from guitar to ukele, piano, kazo, banjo and autoharp.

Friday April 24, opening for Budos Band:
Afrobeta
The opening set features Afrobeta, whose musical affair began in 2006 when Tony "Smurphio" Laurencio’s psychedelic, keyboard-driven beats met vocalist Cuci Amador’s. Their music is a mix of electonic funk and ghetto-tech house. They won the Miami New Times award for Best local songwriter in 2008 and Best Electronic Band in 2007.
