The Spanish Music Academy (equivalent to the Recording Academy in the USA), announced this week that the latest album, “Raíces y Alas,” by Flamenco singer Carmen Linares won in the category of Best Flamenco Album 2009. Carmen Linares will perform in the award presentation gala that wil take place in Badajoz (eastern Spain) on March 12, 2009.

In a press release, the artist said: "We would like to thank the support we received for this project since the planning stage… Thanks to Juan Carlos Romero for his compositions, to the musicians that participated, to the press, the musical critics, the public and, of course, to Juan Ramón Jiménez." [the album was dedicated to poet Juan Ramón Jiménez]
