A Brazilian artist that is creating quite a buzz in Sao Paulo, Andreia Dias will be performing Saturday, November 1st at offWomex in Sevilla. The offWomex Stage stands right next to the Teatro Lope de Vega.
For her showcase presentation in Sevilla, Andreia and her band will play songs from her first album, Vol. 1, bringing her music to its full during the live performance. The mix of Andreia’s samba compositions, Guilherme Kastrup’s grooving drums, Estevan Sinkovitz and Ricardo Prado’s distorted guitars and Luque Barros smart bass lines aim to impress the audience with music that is different from anything else.
Singer and songwriter Andreia Dias released her first solo album, Vol. 1, in early 2008 and has since received high praise from Brazilian and international reviewers. From the first song “Asas”, one can feel Andreia’s musical power, proposing us rhythms that could be defined as “Latin-American contemporary music”. Andreia, who wrote all the songs in the CD, is a melodic powerhouse. On stage, her soothing voice and charisma, together with a groovy heavyweight band, are captivating audiences throughout Brazil.
Andreia comes from the São Paulo’s suburbs and has learned that samba is the best language for her music to become alive. Now she knows that rock n’ roll and samba can live together very well… She started her career with avant-garde artist São Paulo band “DonaZica”, as the lead singer, with Anelis Assumpção and Iara Rennó. Currently she can also be seen performing at Banda Glória’s monthly party, where 1,500 people gather to dance until 5am in São Paulo.
