Motivated by the purpose of creating a spectacular park in Spain for a new edition of “Rock in Rio”, an audacious project has been developed: contemporaneous and at the same time respecting the conditions of environmental comfort.
The challenge has been to design a Rock City, not far from Madrid centre, that complies with all the requirements: a flexible project but able to attend all the necessities to make Rock City a European reference, and, in the world, an example of a multipurpose space.
Undoubtedly this project answers to the natural laws: gardens, pergolas, fountains, a wide entrance space and covered areas with all the necessary infrastructures for the comfort of the visitors and to attend all the activities that are going to take place during the celebration of “Rock in Rio-Madrid” 2008.
The buildings, which are distributed around the park, represent the formal freedom found in most of the contemporary projects. The volume, the rhythm, the colors and materials, show the diversity of styles and the main challenge of today’s architects: find the balance between buildings and nature.
The integration of the modern techniques of construction and the natural environment has given as a result Arganda del Rey Musical and Cultural Park, which stands out because it is a unique and audacious world stage for all kind of activities: shows, conventions, fairs and why not, just to contemplate it.
