London, UK – Atlantic Waves, London International Festival of Exploratory Music, Atlantic Waves launches this year’s festival with a celebration of mesmerizing voices, recreating a Portuguese traditional Grand Fado Night. On offer is a five star line-up featuring three generations of fado divas – legendary singers Beatriz da Conceição and Maria da Fé, prime fadistas Mafalda Arnauth and Aldina Duarte, and young talents Joana Amendoeira and Raquel Tavares. A traditional fado combo of virtuosic players – Ricardo Cruz (double bass), Luis Pontes (classical guitar) and Paulo Parreira (Portuguese guitar) – accompanies all six singers.
Atlantic Waves features 22 concerts in 8 days, with more than 70 artists from around the world, including Portugal, Brazil, Cape Verde, Angola, Israel, Lithuania, Estonia, Georgia, UK, France, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Finland, Denmark, Austria, Switzerland, USA, Canada, Japan and Australia. A rather special program even for cosmopolitan London.
