Black Mountain (North Carolina), USA – Lake Eden Arts Festival’s monumental 25th festival will take place in just a few weeks. Nestled at the base of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains at the site of the historic Black Mountain College, LEAF explores music, dance and performance arts of Americana and the World. Raves the Asheville Citizen times, LEAF is “one of Western North Carolina’s premier entertainment events” and is set apart from other festivals by the resplendent beauty of its location, dedication to community outreach, and a strong feeling of well-being bringing together all generations. The festival takes place October 19-21 at Camp Rockmont in Black Mountain, North Carolina.
The featured performing artists include: Michael Franti solo, Les Nubians, Doc Watson with Richard Watson & David Holt as Hills of Home, Fishbone, Tony Trischka, Bio Ritmo, Wild Asparagus, Kiyosi Nagata (Japan), Henry Butler, John Doyle & Liz Carroll, John Boutte, The Wilders, Mizero Troupe (Rwanda), Jabali African Acrobats (Kenya), Pine Leaf Boys, Mac Arnold & Plate Full O’Blues, Hassan Hakmoun (Morocco), Ustulo Terra Fire Show, Boulder Acoustic Society, David Lamotte, Eliza Lynn, Paperhand Puppet Intervention & more.
LEAF highlights its global music line-up, however, the artistic and outdoor offerings of the festival is what truly makes it unforgettable. There will be over 40 Healing Arts Workshops such as Yoga & Tai Chi, Folk Art, Juried Handcrafts, a National $1000 Poetry SLAM, Camping, an adventurous Zipline, Canoes, Kayaks, and Swimming, Talent Contest, Fiddle Contest, West African Mountain Drum Circles, over 30 Performers & Wacky Games in the Kids Village including Kids Bedtime Stories, Second Line Parades, Jam Sessions, Gourmet Food and more. A few new things this year: Art in Motion’s Flying Trapeze! Plus: The Black Mountain College Barns have come to life as a new venue, and LEAF has gone solar with the Solar Sundance Stage.
