Cambridge (Massachusetts), USA – One of the few DJs in Jamaica capable of giving the great U Roy any competition was another master of the genre named Dennis “Alcapone” Smith. His smooth singing style of toasting is brilliantly captured on Forever Version Deluxe Edition (Heartbeat Records, 2007), which also features the singing of such Studio One greats as the Wailers, the Heptones, Alton Ellis, Ken Boothe, and John Holt. This deluxe edition features the rare stereo album mixes and adds an additional six bonus tracks. Produced by Clement Dodd.On the On the Other Side of Dub (Heartbeat Records, 2007 is one of reggae’s essential dee-jay albums, and Lone Ranger is one of the founding fathers of the dancehall dee-jay business. Ranger recorded big hits for Studio One and was one of the artists responsible for the label’s renaissance in the early eighties. On the Other Side of Dub contains nine top deejay performances as well as eight Studio One dubs. Also included is the extended mix of “Keep on Coming a de Dance”, one of the Ranger’s signature toasts. This album is taken from the rare original stereo master which has never before appeared on CD and includes bonus tracks “The Answer,” “Tribute to Marley,” and “Screw Gone a North Coast.”
