One of the leading world music acts from Taiwan, A Moving Sound, will be touring North America in July. To get a taste of its music, the band has provided a free download. “Silk Road” is available at: www.calabashmusic.com. This song features a number of rich and evocative Chinese instruments such as the "erhu", a vertically held, bowed instrument…like a violin with no fretboard; zhong ruan, a vertically held Chinese guitar with a round hollow body; shen, like a portable pipe organ which you blow into. Floating ethereally above it all are the transcendent melodies of vocalist Mia Hsieh.
