Ortigueira (Galicia), Spain – Ortigueira is one of the oldest and largest Celtic music festivals in the international scene. The 2007 edition will be held July 5 – 8.
In total there will be 96 hours of music in 20 free concerts. Some of the highlights this year include Anglo-Irish sensation Flook (UK), Galician multi-instrumentalist Mercedes Peón (Spain), Galician music pioneers Milladoiro (Spain), and Basque accordionist Kepa Junkera (Spain). In addition to the Celtic content, the festival will also feature world music acts, such as Polish band Kroke.
In addition, the Estrella Galicia stage, on July 5, is reserved for the winners of the annual Proyecto Runas emerging folk music bands. Proyecto Runas is open to folk musicians from the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal). The winners of Proyecto Runas 2007 are all from Spain: Sete saias (Galicia), Balbarda (Madrid), Crema de gaita (Galicia), La Jambre (Andalusia) and Bonovo (Galicia).
