Ojos de Brujo kicks off their 2007 North American tour on June 20 to July 1 to promote the north American release of its third album, Techarí.
The tour will cover select cities including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Toronto, and Montreal. A special full-length remix release with contributions from band members and friends is scheduled one month earlier, in May.
In addition, the band is featured on Six Degrees Records’ 10 Year Anniversary Project entitled Backspin. Backspin compiles new cover versions from the label’s roster of artists, each re-inventing a classic song that influenced them.
Ojos de Brujo contributes their rendition of Bob Marley’s “Get Up Stand Up.” Their version uses flamenco tango as a base and then moves into a modern rumba flamenca/son cubano style, with flamenco guitars, palmas and cajón as the leading groove instruments, and adding the newest Ojos dimension of Cuban piano and horns.
