UK – WOMAD Canarias will be held at Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain from 10 to 12 November of 2006. The exhilarating beachside city of Las Palmas is the main city on the island of Gran Canaria, located at the north of the island, around 20 minutes drive from the airport.
The venue, as for the past seven years, will be the Parque de Santa Catalina – a city square close to the centre of Las Palmas, and just 200 meters from the Playa de las Canteras, one of the island’s longest and most spectacular beaches. There are many hotels, shops and restaurants in the vicinity.This year, WOMAD Canarias will feature an outside main stage with musical performances, an inside stage featuring adult workshops and musical performances, plus a children’s workshop area, ‘Taste The World’ sessions, a Global Market, and walkabout artists.
There will be a full program of performances and workshops on the Friday and Saturday of the event, and the Sunday will feature children’s workshops and a procession in the afternoon.
The event is free so there is no need to purchase tickets.
