Elvis White Crowned Best New Artist at 13th Annual Reggae Soca Music Awards

Atlanta (Georgia), USA – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Elvis White proved that they are the hottest new group to emerge from the Caribbean, earning one of the top honors of the night, Best New Artist, at the 13th Annual Reggae Soca Music Awards. The Awards were held on Saturday, May 27 at the Broward Center for Performing Arts in Miami.

The Reggae Soca Music Awards, celebrating its thirteenth year, recognizes excellence in Caribbean music and is considered the Caribbean Grammy’s by their community. Also joining Elvis White in the winners circle were Daddy Yankee, winning for Reggaeton Song of the Year, Gasolina and Damian “Jr.Gong” Marley, winning both Reggae Song and Reggae Dancehall Album of the Year, with Welcome to Jamrock.

Elvis White emerged on the U.S. domestic music scene in 2005, earning accolades from their peers when they won the Best Live Band award at the 2005 Miami Carnival. Elvis White also earned their stripes when they opened for The Fugees recent European Tour, winning praise from both the press and Fugees front man himself, Wyclef Jean. “America is opening up to Caribbean music more than ever before,” stated Wyclef. “Watching this feels like the Elvis White movement…Elvis is the Godfather…”

Elvis White is slated to release their debut CD, Promise–Live & Direct, later this summer on 17.20/Bungalo/Universal Records.
