The Kingdom of Belgium is located in Western Europe, bordering the North Sea, between France and the Netherlands.

The city of Antwerp is located in Flanders. Antwerp is an ancient coastal city known for its commerce. A well-known cultural institution, the Wereldculturencentrum Zuiderpershuis (Centre for World Cultures) and the Sfinks World Music Festival have made Antwerp a key location for world music in the region. The Wereldculturencentrum Zuiderpershuis focuses on international performing arts, presenting world music concerts and co-organizing music festivals in Africa.

Brussels is not only the capital of Belgium, but it is also one of the government seats of the European union. It is a city where many languages are spoken, especially French, Flemish, and English. One of the most influential world music labels in the European continent, Crammed Discs, is based there. Crammed put Eastern European music Gypsy music on the world music map. Brussels hosts one of the largest world music festivals in Europe, Couleur Café. It is usually held between June and early July.
