Call for Artists: World Music Contest Andrea Parodi Prize 2024

The competition is now underway for the 17th edition of the Andrea Parodi Prize (Premio Andrea Parodi), one of the most important European contests dedicated to world music. The finals will be held in Cagliari in autumn 2024. First thing to remember is that the deadline to apply is set for May 9, 2024.

Significant prizes and bonuses are planned for the winner and some finalists, starting with a series of concerts and participation in some of the finest Italian music festivals.

The Award was created to pay homage to Andrea Parodi, a Sardinian musician of great importance in the world music scene. It is created by the Foundation of the same name under the artistic direction of Elena Ledda.

Registration is free and must be made using the format available at www.fondazioneandreaparodi.it.

They must contain:

• 2 songs, one of which is in competition (2 mp3 files, auditions or live recordings or definitive works, even already published; indicate which of the two songs you intend to compete with); the songs cannot be just instrumental and must identify an entire artistic project linked to world music.
• lyrics and any Italian translations of the two songs;
• artistic CV of the competitor (individual or group).

An artistic commission chosen by the organization will anonymously select the finalists from all those registered. The selected artists will perform live in the final phase in front of a large jury made up of seasoned professionals, such as singers, authors, musicians, festival managers, managers, record companies, press offices, journalists, music critics, both Italian and international.

The overall winner will be entitled to a grant of €2,500, as well as the possibility of performing at some Parodi partner festivals in 2025, such as the European Jazz Expo (Sardinia) and Folkest (Friuli), as well as in the Andrea Parodi Prize itself.

On the other hand, the winner of the Critics’ Award will be awarded the opportunity to create a professional music video of a song, produced by the Andrea Parodi Foundation.

Some finalists of the Award might be invited by partner festivals such as Mare e Miniere, Premio Bianca d’Aponte, Premio Città di Loano de música tradicional italiana, Mo’l’estate Fiesta del Espíritu, Fiesta del Mal.
