The album cover for Ithaca by Lullahush features a close-up photograph of tangled seaweed in various shades of brown, black, and translucent white. In the bottom left corner, the album title Ithaca and artist name Lullahush are displayed in a stylized Celtic-inspired font, framed by an intricate knotwork design.

Reel Innovation: Lullahush Mixes Irish Tradition and Tech

Lullahush (Daniel McIntyre) introduces his upcoming album Ithaca with “Maggie na bhFlaitheas” (“Maggie of the Heavens”), a track that transforms the traditional Irish reel “Over The Moore To Maggie” into a fusion of folk and electronic music. Rather than placing one style within the other, McIntyre seamlessly integrates both, creating a unified identity.

Accompanying the piece is a dynamic visual montage of rural Ireland, religious iconography, town life, and coastal landscapes; an interplay of past and present, organic and synthetic.

McIntyre describes the project as a contemporary take on Irish romanticism, shaped by the possibilities of digital production. “I am very excited by the power that sampling offers a bedroom producer like me to build multi-layer narratives and self-referential worlds,” he explains.
