Two of China’s finest pipa players have released Hunting Eagles Catching Swans. The recording is a historical, symbolic album highlighting one of the greatest pipa (Chinese lute) masters of all time: Lin Shicheng.
The album features dazzling duo interplay and prodigiously performed solo pieces as well.
Lin is renowned for his unparalleled skill as a pipa player and also for his extensive work for many years as a pipa instructor, teaching many of the leading pipa players in the world today.
Gao Hong is a productive teacher, writer, professor and master of the pipa. She was a student of Lin Shicheng’s while at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, and is currently an award-winning and internationally- acclaimed musician.
