Monmon, the new recording by Reunion Island artist Danyèl Waro is the number 1 album in the July 2017 Transglobal World Music Chart.

Danyèl Waro plays traditional acoustic Maloya, the genre known as the blues of Reunion. He sings in the Creole language.

Maloya, for me, is first and foremost about the word,” he says. “I’m looking for the cadence, the image, the rhythm in the word. Maloya has put me in touch with Réunion, with its people, with our language.”
