Elito Revé y su Charangón, the well-known Cuban band also known as “La Revé”, is set to perform in Havana during the major arts festival Habanarte that runs September 11-21, 2014. La Revé has a new album titled La aplanadora de Cuba on Bismusic.

The dance orchestra was created by maestro Elio Revé in 1956, as a charanga band specialized in changüí, a genuine expression of rural music from his Guantánamo birthplace. He modernized it by combining it with other rhythms such as pachanga, guaguancó and timba.

Elio Revé was major force in Cuban music. He directed the orchestra until his death in 1997. The band was an essential learning place, a music school for many relevant Cuban musicians, including the recently deceased Juan Formell, Jorge Luis Cortés, César Pupy Pedroso, Yumurí and Juan Carlos Alfonso, among others.
