Ghazal renovator Kiran Ahluwalia will be on tour with her superb band for the first part of her Common Ground United States Tour, beginning November 9 in New York City. The Indian singer is touring in support of her new CD Aam Zameen: Common Ground which was released on October 25 on Avokado Artists Recordings.
Expressing her muse through ghazals and Punjabi folk songs, Kiran explores the language of the heart with beautiful artistry. Born in India, raised in Canada and now living in New York City, her enchanting and seductive music has garnered glowing praise from critics the world over.
Kiran’s new CD Aam Zameen: Common Ground is a step forward in the evolution of an artist who, while firmly rooted in Indian music, is continually embracing sounds and influences from around the world. The project features collaboration with legendary Tuareg desert blues group Tinariwen and fellow tribesmen Terakaft as well as Ghanian ritti player Juldeh Camara and Justin Adams (Tinariwen, Robert Plant) who along with New York jazz guitarist Rez Abbasi co-produced the record.
