Brazilian Samba Star Diogo Nogueira Makes His New York Debut

Brazilian samba singer Diogo Nogueira is scheduled to perform on Friday, July 1, 2011 at 6:00 at Damrosch Park, Lincoln Center.

Diogo Nogueira has the samba in his blood just about as literally as anyone could. The son of Portela samba school’s celebrated composer João Nogueira, this young singer-songwriter grew up with sambas for lullabies.

He’s since exploded into a national television star and an international sensation, winning the 2010 Latin Grammy for Best Samba/Pagode. For his New York debut, he and his band will show New York’s dancers how Rio’s new generation of samba players does it.
