Award Winning Zimbabwean Band Mokoomba Will Tour Europe in 2009

Mokoomba will be touring Europe May through July 2009. First-prize winner of the Music Crossroads InterRegional Festival (IRF) 2008, Mokoomba is a six-piece band singing in Tonga (one of the lesser known languages and cultures of Zimbabwe). Mokoomba brings an electrified blend of Afro-fusion and tantalizing traditional Zimbabwean music. The name Mokoomba stems from the deep respect that the Tonga people have for the Zambezi River and for the vibrant life that it brings to their music and culture.

Mokoomba performs their music on modern instruments encompassing a dynamic showcase of traditional Tonga instruments. Mokommba is: Mathias Muzaza – Lead vocal & Percussion; Abundance Mutori – Bass Guitar; Trustworth Samende – Guitar & Backing vocals; Donald Moyo – Keyboard & Backing Vocals; Costa Ndaba Moyo – Drums; Miti Mugande – Percussion & Backing vocals
