Kassav at S.O.B.’s New York July 31

On Tuesday, July 31st, S.O.B.’s, will present Kassav , the creators of zouk music. Zouk means “party” in creole and is a rhythmic style of music, which originated from Guadeloupe and Martinique, with origins in Haitian kompa and influences from French pop.
 
 Kassav fuses native Antillean zouk rhythms with Western elements such as rock guitar and a funk horn section as well as West African guitar and percussion styles. The band’s live show is a spectacular, colorful and animated, with memorizing dancers featured as integral members of the band.Kassav  has since become known for wildly theatrical concerts featuring special effects spectacles, colorful costumes and outrageous antics. July 31st will be their first time performing in New York, in over 10 years.
