A Reggae Icon Records in Buenos Aires

Rico Rodriguez

Togetherness (Delanuca Records 45132-2, 2006)

Jamaican trombonist Rico Rodriguez is a legendary figure in recent Jamaican music. Togetherness is his latest released, released on a label that is better known for rock en español. There is a connection, though. Rico Rodriguez recorded this CD in Argentina. The musicians who participated in the album are known as the Roots to the Bone Band, an All Star cast comprised by members of some of Argentina’s top Reggae and Ska bands: Los Cafres, Mimi Maura, Dancing Mood & Los Intocables.

Togetherness is a fun album and trip through the history of Jamaican music. The trombone-led pieces range from fast paced ska to the more attractive funky reggae beats.

Rico Rodriguez has performed with some of the biggest names in Jamaican music, such as Bob Marley, The Specials, Burning Spear and Skatalites. This recording shows us why.
