Hutchy Combines Electronic Elements with Classic Dancehall and Reggae on New CD

Washington D.C., USA – Jamaican musician Hutchy has released My Time, the first full-length release on Ruff Cut Records. Michael Hutchinson a.k.a Hutchy is the founder and label head of Ruff Cut Records. Hutchy was born in St. Andrews, Jamaica and raised in Mandeville. He moved to Washington D.C. with his family in the 1980’s and became a renowned DJ, selector and promoter on the DC music scene. He says, "Ever since I can remember I have been doing music."

"My experience on stage didn’t end there. I met Carl Malcolm who let me perform on his show. The audience’s reaction to me was overwhelming. I was now convinced that I had a musical talent and a way to connect with my audience." Hutchy has worked with diverse bands and individuals such as Desmond Williams, The Scientist, Thievery Corporation (Hutchy performed as a vocalist on Thievery Corporation’s Versions,) BT, Thunderball and Deep Dish. My singing style is unique and involves a score of different styles."

My Time is the culmination of Hutchy’s grand works combining electronic elements with classic dancehall, dub and reggae sounds. The sound is unique but familiar, drawing from Hutchy’s broad base of influences.
