Viennese Balkanica Goes Global

dunkelbunt

Morgenlandfahrt (2007)

The latest CD by dunkelbunt is Morgenlandfahrt. The group is a project of Hamburg native Ulf Lindemann, who settled in Vienna five years ago. In the Austrian capital dunkelbunt has become one of key elements in its Balkan music scene.

With the help of Gypsy and Klezmer musicians, dunkelbunt has concocted a fascinating mix of global electronica with Gypsy, Klezmer, dub and dancehall elements.

The guests on the CD are some of the finest in the region: Fanfare Ciocarlia, Amsterdam Klezmer Band, Boban Markovic, and Harri Stojka.

The CD is available from Soul Seduction.
