CD Release Night featuring Sativasur & La Cumbiamba eNeYe in New York

New York City (New York), USA – Chonta Records, a label specialized in new Colombian music, will celebrate the CD release of its new productions on Wednesday, March 29 at 9:30 at Makor. Sativasur are Ricardo Gallo (piano), Alejandro Flórez (guitar), Jim McNamara (bass),and Martín Vejarano Ávila. they play the original compositions of Colombian pianist and composer Ricardo Gallo. His music is based on Colombian rhythms from the Andes and from both the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of the country. Both rhythmically intense and at times dissolved in more spacious textures, his music never loses sight of its roots in traditional Colombian music.

La Cumbiamba eNeYe was created in the summer of 2000 with a group of musicians of caliber who share an enthusiasm for investigating, performing and advancing musical expressions emanating from the mix of African, Native Indian, and European cultural contributions in the Americas.

In Colombia, “Cumbiamba” is a familiar word that denotes an outdoors celebration with live cumbia music, or the bands that perform in such events. La Cumbiamba Eneye evokes this lively atmosphere with every performance, spreading it to multiple cultural venues throughout the city and beyond.
