Lamu Cultural Festival in Kenya; Nov 18-20, 2005

Kenya – The 2005 edition of Lamu Cultural Festival in Kenya will be held November 18-20. Lamu Cultural Festival has been taking place annually since 2001 and is hugely popular with the local population, who turn out in their thousands to enjoy performances of traditional music and dance, dhow races, donkey races, swimming competitions and more. The event is growing in reputation and now attracting visitors from the wider region and beyond. With support of Ford Foundation, Busara Promotions is playing a role in strengthening the historical social and cultural links between peoples of Lamu and Zanzibar. For the November festival there will be two groups from Zanzibar to
participate at this year’s festival: East African Melody (modern taarab) and
Sinachuki Kidumbak group, who will be sure to keep the crowds jumping and
swaying til the early hours.
