Bluesman R.L. Burnside Dies at 78

Burnside
died September 1st in his hospital room at the St. Francis
Hospital
in Memphis, Tennessee. He was 78.

According to Matthew Johnson, owner of
Burnside’s record label, Fat Possum Records, Burnside’s health had been
declining in the past years. He underwent major heart surgery in 1999. A fund has been created to help RL Burnside’s widow, Alice Mae. Those wishing

Burnside is survived by his wife, Alice Mae, thirteen children and many
