Santa Cruz, California, USA – Sadza, a seven-member marimba and mbira band based in Santa Cruz, California, has recently released their first CD, entitled Mukonde weSadza (A serving of Sadza). Featuring six handmade marimbas, mbira, karimba, hosho, ngoma and Shona lyrics, the CD has many original arrangements of traditional and contemporary dance music from Zimbabwe.
The name Sadza refers to the traditional staple food for most of Zimbabwe’s indigenous peoples, a stiff porridge commonly made with white cornmeal. For more information, visit the band’s website
