New World Music Venue in New York

SatallaNew York, USA – New York city has a new venue for world music. Satalla is located at 37 West 26th Street (between Broadway & 6th Avenue. Phone: +1 212/567-1155).  According to the club’s spokesman, “The new Temple of World Music will dedicate itself to music from around the globe, seven nights a week.  Satalla (Arabic for being “high on life” – in our case, music) seats approximately 200 people, offers a full bar, light menu and state of the art sound system.

The acoustics, coupled with its intimate atmosphere, will inspire folks to take in each and every nuance of the music – hopefully “transporting” you into another world. Satalla’s mission is that on any night the Temple is entered, one can hear the best in world music – becoming the place where local and international world music artists/supporters/friends call home.”Some of the talent scheduled for this year, includes; the Mongolian group Hun-Huur-Tu, the virtuoso NY-based trombone salsero Jimmy Bosch, Chilean band Inti Illimani, Haitian vocalist Emeline Michel and the Cape Verdean singer Fantcha.
