Third Week of Suma Flamenca 2017

The final week of Madrid’s acclaimed flamenco festival Suma Flamenca will feature renowned acts along with, free concerts.

The artists set to perform this week include Rocío Márquez, Carlos de Jacoba, María Moreno and Pepe Torres at El Pavón Teatro Kamikaze; Ultra High Flamenco at the Museo del Traje (Costume Museum); Maria Terremoto at Residencia de Estudiantes; Jesús de Rosario at the Casa Museo Lope de Vega (Lope de Vega House Museum) and Arcángel at the Lázaro Galdiano Museum Gardens. These last four concerts are also free and open to the public until full capacity.

additionally, the festival will feature a series of improvisations and master classes led by Mercedes Ruiz, Javier Barón, Juana Amaya and Olga Pericet, as well as a dialogue and illustrated lecture titled ‘How New York Snatched from Paris the Modern Idea of Flamenco.’

The Second Edition of ‘Flamenco Eñe’ Showcase to Take Place in Malaga

The Flamenco Eñe Showcase will take place May 18 through May 21 at the Picasso Museum in Malaga. This showcase, presented by The SGAE Foundation, in collaboration with the Picasso Museum of Malaga and the Regional Ministry of Culture of Andalusia, through the Andalusian Institute of Flamenco, was launched in 2016. Flamenco Eñe has the mission of promoting flamenco internationally.

During four days in May, the selected flamenco artists will present showcases. In addition, meetings will be organized between festival directors, European flamenco programmers and managers of flamenco acts to encourage new forms of collaboration and exchange of experiences among professionals from Spain and the rest of Europe.

In 2016, the musicians selected for Flamenco Eñe were: José Antonio Rodríguez, Babel, Ultra High Flamenco (+ Rosario Toledo), Pedro el Granaíno, Alfonso Aroca Quinteto, Josemi Carmona & Javier Colina, Esperanza Fernández, Dos Cabezas … Pa un Sombrero Dorantes / Pele), Antonio Reyes, Flamencas, Rafael Riqueni and Manuel Valencia.

Ultra High Flamenco Quartet to Perform at Flamenco Festival in New York and Miami

Ultra High Flamenco Quartet will perform in New York City in March 18th as part of the international Flamenco Eñe tour. “It is inevitable to feel that this is a special occasion. UHF is a band in which each musician embraces a different genre; to show it at Joe’s Pub is a joy“, reveals Pablo Martín Caminero, bass player of the ensemble. The next day, the Adrienne Arsht Center Carnival Studio in Miami will present this avant-garde sound.

Flamenco Eñe Heads to New York, Miami and Chicago in March 2017

The SGAE Foundation will continue with its Spanish Flamenco promotion overseas program, Flamenco Eñe, with presentations in New York City, Miami and Chicago during March 2017. The artists featured include flamenco fusion acts performed by Josemi Carmona & Javier Colina, pianist Alfonso Aroca and the instrumental flamenco quartet Ultra High Flamenco (UHF). All of them participated in the first edition of Flamenco Eñe that took place in Malaga last May 2016.

The Flamenco Eñe Malaga showcase brought together several foreign performing arts presenters and promoters with a selection of musicians from Spain.

The Flamenco Eñe initiative has opened the doors of the international circuits to Josemi Carmona & Javier Colina, Alfonso Aroca and Ultra High Flamenco (UHF), who will export their talent within the official program of Flamenco Festival 2017, held in New York and Miami between March 2 and 19, and the XV Chicago Flamenco Festival, organized by the Cervantes Institute, with the collaboration of the SGAE Foundation, until March 25.
