The Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance will celebrate its 15th annual spring festival from Thursday, May 4 to Sunday, May 7, 2017. The festival will present more than 40 bands and performers on two big outdoor stages, a large Dance Tent, and an intimate Cabaret Tent.
The featured acts this year include: Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Donna the Buffalo, Aurelio, Todd Snider with Great American Taxi, Amy Helm, Big Mean Sound Machine, Lost Bayou Ramblers, BIG Something, Driftwood, Preston Frank, Jim Lauderdale, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, Holy Ghost Tent Revival, The Blind Spots, Dr. Bacon, Travers Brothership, Uma Galera, FABI, Telekinetic Walrus, Urban Soil, Rivers, Bare Bones A Capella, and Aaron Burdett.
Local acts scheduled to perform include: Sarah Shook & The Disarmers, Dex Romweber Duo, Crucial Fiya, Williamson Brothers Bluegrass Band, Django Haskins, The Beast, Orquesta GarDel, Apple Chill Cloggers, The Hoppin’ Johnnies, Ellis Dyson & The Shambles, Big Fat Gap, The Five Points Rounders Rowdy Square Dance, Dwight Hawkins & The Piedmont Highballers, Laila Nur & The Love Riot, Blue Cactus, DISHOOM, DJ Tymellord, Muningu, Will Ridenour & Gabriel Pelli, Carolina Ukulele Ensemble, The Shakori Hills Vinyl Lounge.
The festival is located on 72 beautiful farmland acres in Chatham County, North Carolina, near Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Durham, Burlington, and Greensboro.
Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival also includes local crafts, delicious food, various children’s activities, healing arts practitioners, dancing and music workshops, environmental sustainability forums, and much more in a family-friendly setting.
