Wa ya zo - Lakota (Native American, also known as Sioux) word for the flute or whistle.

Wadaiko - general term for Japanese drums. 

Waka-pinkullus - Andean 1 register mouthpiece flutes.

Wandindi - Kenyan guitar.  

Wa Patala - Burmese wooded xylophone.  

Warpipes - The chanter has eight holes and plays a distinctive 'pipe scale'. There is one tenor drone, tuned an octave below the chanter and a bass drone a further octave down.

Washboard - The washboard is a corrugated device, usually made of metal, for scrubbing clothes. It is used as a rhythm instrument by scraping the board with a piece of metal, one's hand and nails, or other devices to produce a rasping sound.

Washint - an Ethiopian bamboo flute with four finger holes.

Water drums - 1. Percussion created by men or women who plunge, slap and beat their hands in the river to create a variety of rhythmic and melodic sounds. Traditional to the Baka forest people of southeast Cameroon 2. West African drums made from large gourds. They are cut in half, scraped clean and carefully dried. The large drum is filled with water, and the smaller drum is placed cut-side down in the water.

Whistle - a small end blown flute with a fipple.

Wile - notched flute (Ghana)

Willow Flute - long whistle without finger holes used in the folk music of Sweden and Norway. Also known as Seljefløyte. To learn more go to Seljefløyte.

Wind instrument family - Instruments in which sound is produced by the vibration of air, including brass and woodwind instruments.

Woodwind family - Instruments, originally made of wood, in which the sound is produced by the vibration of air.

Wuankara - Chinese bamboo pipe.

Wubala - highest-pitched of Ghanaian Wile flutes.

Wu-ch'ang - traditional Chinese opera percussion.
