How sad to loose Lucky Dube in such tragic circumstances. I was exposed to his music many years ago and was lucky enough to experience his concerts. Much love and respect to his family, and especially his children who had to witness such violence. Peace.

I am heart-broken to learn of Lucky Dube's murder. I found about Lucky Dube's music in 1990, and I have been a loyal fan ever since. There are too few people carrying the message, to the millions who wait, and now a petty thief has taken away from us one of the best. Did they know who they were shooting at? As they short, were they aware of the mission that Lucky Dube was, which they were subotaging? Tell me it was not mere robbery, and I will feel a little less violated.
Ever live Lucky Dube.

When Lucky Dube arrived on the scene, reggae music finally had a homegrown South African voice against aparthate. Many reggae artists from Jamaica and elsewhere (Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Ras Michael, UB40) had produced potent anti-aparthate songs, but Dube truly brought it from the source to the world beyond. Africa is reggae's true home, and the slaying of one of the Motherland's reggae masters is a grave loss indeed. May he rest in peace, even in a world that will probably never know real respite from so many kinds of war. A Luta Continua.
