Voted San Francisco's 'Best International Band' in 2002, Hamsa Lila plays a jam-style world music inspired by earthy grooves from a variety of traditions, including the Gnawa brotherhood of Morocco, as well as other cultures in North and West Africa, the Americas, India and the Caribbean.

The group?s debut album, Gathering One, presents original composed material inspiration by these various traditions. A significant detail about this release is the majority of the songs are sung in the original native languages of the influence and that only one is sung in English.
