Innovative Folk Musician Unni Løvlid Releases Rite

New ReleasesUnni Løvlid returns with Rite (Grappa GRCD4223), a new album, three years after her previous solo release  Vita (2005) recorded in the Emanuel Vigeland mausoleum. It has taken four years to complete the present album, for which Løvlid has written all the words and music herself. Unni Løvlid is a versatile musician and artist and has experience from a great variety of projects and genres in the region Norwegian folk, contemporary music and electronica. The music on Rite lies somewhere between electronica, contemporary and world.
 
 Unni Løvlid is one of the most exciting folk music performers in norway, who dares to take traditional music to entirely new places, and has the creative imagination to do so.
Unni Løvlid (1976) is one of Norway’s leading folk music vocalists, and was the first musician to be nominated “Performer of the Year” at the Folkelarm festival 2006. The following year she was awarded a Spellemann prize in the contemporary music category together with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and Grex Vocalis. Her first solo disc was released in 1999. In addition to performing solo Unni Løvlid is a member of the trio RUSK and she has collaborated with musicians including Terje Isungset, Frode Haltli and Hild Sofie Tafjord. Unni has toured in Germany, Scotland, France, Belgium, USA, China, India, Vietnam, Canada and Iceland.
 
 Participating on the recording are: Unni Løvlid, Hild Sofie Tafjord, Frode Haltli, Lene Grenager, Håkon Kornstad, Ragnhild Furebotten, Ingar Hunskaar, Helge Sten, Helge Nordbakken and the Norwegian National Opera Children’s Choir.
