World Musicians prepare to observe Autism Sunday 2009

General News

Musicians around the world are preparing to mark the international day - Autism Sunday 2009 on 8th February. Cathedrals, churches and religious organisations will be observing Autism Sunday also known as the International Day of Prayer for Autism and Asperger's Syndrome to remember over 60 million people with autism and Asperger's Syndrome in prayer.

Church musicians across many nations are preparing to celebrate the lives of children and adults with autism and Asperger's Syndrome. Autism advocates in the United States have urged US President Barack Obama to speak up for autism on Autism Sunday. The President has also been asked to invite families and people with autism to the White House to mark Autism Sunday. This would be history in the making. The White House website has featured Autism for the first time.

The song for autism, 'Open Every Door,' sung by the Asian superstar and Ambassador for Autism Gresha Schuilling  and written by singer/songwriter Nimal Mendis has been re-released by Media Eye Music in London for Autism Sunday 2009. The autism song is now available for download on iTunes with part proceeds to an autism charity.
