Chicago Cultural Center Presents Kálmán Balogh & The Gypsy Cimbalom Band

EventsHungarian act Kálmán Balogh & Gypsy Jazz will perform Saturday, November 10, 2 pm at the Claudia Cassidy Theater, Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington St. Admission is free.

The Hungarian Gypsy Jazz group Kálmán Balogh & Gypsy Jazz is the dynamic merging of music from the old and new worlds. Balogh continues a fabled European musical tradition harking back to the collaboration of masters like gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt and violinist Stephane Grappelli, connecting the ancient folk music traditions of Central and Eastern Europe with the chord progressions and swing of jazz.
The group includes Kálmán Balogh (cimbalom), Sándor Budai (violin), László Major (violin), Ferenc Kovács (trumpet and violin), Sándor Kuti (guitar, cimbalom), and Csaba Novák (bass).

They are currently touring the country in celebration of the release of their new CD, Kalman Balogh Gypsy Cimbalom Band:  Live in Germany, on Traditional Crossroads.
