Vengo Venenoso

CD Reviews

Antonio Carmona

Vengo Venenoso (Universal Music Latino, 2008)

Antonio Carmona used to sing in the groundbreaking Flamenco hybrid band Ketama, which was renowned in world music circles. His new CD, titled Vengo Venenoso takes into a pop crooner direction. The producers have removed a lot of the Flamenco ambience and replaced it with slick pop and rock arrangements. Nevertheless, there is still  a remnant of the Ketama legacy. The last track, "Miedo," which is by far the best cut, shows the Nuevo Flamenco vibes combines with global rhythms and melodies.

Vengo Venenoso  was produced by Argentine producer Gustavo Santaolala, the king Midas of recent Latin pop productions. Most of the songs will please the top 40 crowd. For the world music stuff, stick to "Miedo," the opening rumba "Se Amarra el Pelo," songs

Buy Vengo Venenoso.
