Boban & Marko Markovic Orkestar along with Fanfare Ciocarlia are set to perform at Page Auditorium (Duke University) in Durham, North Carolina on Monday, April 11, 2016 at 7:00 p.m.
These two acts are the leading brass bands in the Balkans. Serbian trumpet virtuoso Boban Markovic leads Boban Markovic Orkestar, a thunderous thirteen-piece band featuring his son, trumpeter Marko Markovic, an emerging star. Boban & Marko Markovic Orkestar discography includes Go Marko Go!, The Promise, Boban I Marko Balkan Brass Fest, Live in Belgrade, Gipsy Manifesto and Balkan Brass Battle.
Fanfare Ciocarlia, from the Romanian village of Zece Prajini, is a vibrant twelve-piece ensemble of trumpets, tuba, clarinets, saxophones, and percussion. The band’s recordings incluide Queens and Kings, Devil’s Tale, Radio Pascani, Live, Baro Biao: World Wide Wedding, and Balkan Brass Battle
